Ryan Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. But before we do that, why don't we check it out and make sure that this is gonna work for you So before we get too carried away kinda talking about the diode wiring, and how it's gonna work, and things of that nature, I figured it'd be useful just to kinda touch base and refresh ourselves of the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our Jeep down the road in the first place. All the main components are gonna consist of five different parts. So the first thing is gonna be your base plate, and what this is gonna do is provide you with a solid and reliable connection point. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look in installing the Roadmaster Smart Diode Wiring Kit for towed vehicles on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Now, when you're setting a vehicle up for flat towing, there's gonna be five required components enabled to do this. And the first one being the base plate. So that's where we can actually make that connection point between the vehicle and the tow bar. The tow bar is gonna be the connection point between that base plate and the actual RV's hitch. Now, you'll also have your supplemental braking system. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a diode wiring kit is going to fall under the category of a tow bar wiring, which is just one of the many things you need in order to successfully flat tow your Jeep. Now, there's quite a few different options in regards to that tow bar wiring. The diodes, however, are best, in my opinion. So the reason I like the diode wiring kit is that it actually uses our factory tail lights here. Therefore, we don't have to worry about draping any lights over the vehicle, like some of the magnetic kind and we don't have to worry about actually drilling into or modifying our tail light housing like some of the bulb and socket kits. more

Hi there, Terrain owners. Today, on your 2013 GMC Terrain, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's diode wiring kit. Quick brief overview of all the components we've got here, 'cause there are five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle; your safety cables, which is a supplementary connection in addition to your tow bar; your base plate, which is the connection on your vehicle for your tow bar and safety cables to attach to; your diode wiring, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfer them to the lights at the back of your vehicle, so people know your intentions when going down the road; and lastly, your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brakes in your vehicle when you hit them in your motor home to help you have a nice, smooth braking operation. And this is what you'll see once you have your diode wiring installed. All the components are hidden completely behind the taillight assembly here, and wires are routed throughout the vehicle to take all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfer 'em to the lights here at the back of your vehicle. more

Curt Towed Vehicle Fuse Bypass Switch Review- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan, here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Curt double fuse bypass switch. So when it comes to flat towing your vehicle down the road, there's already a lot of things to kind of worry about. You have your five main components to deal with, your base plate, your tow bar, safety cables, your wiring and your braking system, and honestly, that's enough to really have to worry about there, and any additional things you need to do, chances are pretty good there's a part available to help simplify that or make it more streamlined. And one of the things, or a good example of one of those things, is the fuse bypass switch. So with a lot of vehicles, the manufacturer suggests that you remove a couple of fuses whenever you're flat towing, that way, certain components inside your vehicle don't have power, and you're not gonna have to worry about any issues as far as maybe coming out of flat tow mode or your battery getting drained and things like that. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today, we're gonna be checking out the blue ox dual fuse bypass switch for towed vehicles. I do wanna mention the fuse bypass switch is designed to work with fuses that have a rating of 20 amps or under. So, you know that holds true for each fuse holder. So you can have a 20 amp fuse for one holder, 20 amp fuse in the other holder. As long as it doesn't exceed 20 amps, we're in pretty good shape. more

Instructor Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Fuse Master bypass here on a 2019 Buick envision. So a fuse bypass is gonna be installed in individual circuits there in the fuse box of our vehicle. And it's gonna cut power to those circuits at the flick of a switch. And the reason we need this we're flat towing our vehicle because according to the owner's manual, we have to disconnect two fuses, while the vehicles in tow. That's gonna be fuse number 29 and fuse number 32. Now there's two fuses control, the body control module and those activate the lights, the locks, all the electronics in your vehicle. more

Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights Review- Video
Hello, neighbors! It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Hopkins Wireless Magnetic Tow Light system for a flat towed vehicle. I had the hazards on in the RV, and you can see there's no wires going up to it. So these work wirelessly. They are powered by AA batteries, and they have a low indicator light on the driver's side light. There's an on and off switch. So when not in use, you simply swap it off and you can save your battery for another time. more

So the fuse bypass or quick disconnect, whatever you wanna refer to it as, it's the same thing. It's not necessarily required for your flat tow setup, but it is one of those convenience items that is gonna make things that much more easier. So for this particular vehicle here, it is required that we disconnect a fuse while towing. It does vary a little bit, depending on which model you have, whether you have the four cylinder model or the six cylinder model. This particular kit here is gonna be designed for the four cylinder model. more

Then you have to run a wire all the way down the roof, over your windshield, into the motor home. And those certainly aren't ideal. more

Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2006 Mini Cooper- Video
Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2006 Mini Cooper, and I want to walk you through how to install Roadmasters LED bulb and socket kit. Bulb and socket kit, or the LED light kit, is gonna be designed to transfer light signals back to the back of your vehicle when it's being flat towed. The difference between diode kits and your bulb and socket is, diode kits are designed to tie into factory wiring, where the bulb and socket requires you to drill a hole into the light, and then use the separate bulb. That way it doesn't affect or interfere with any wiring on the vehicle itself. Now with the Mini Cooper, it actually, the wires cannot be tied into so you can't use a diode kit. more

So as you can see, the turn signal on our coach is on, and it's also transferring that on our vehicle, which for people behind us, it makes it easy for them to see what you're doing. So the diode is installed behind your tail light to your factory wiring. These prevent backfeed from the motor coach to protect what wiring you have in your vehicle. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus. So what is a diode wiring kit and why do we need it Well, it's actually pretty simple. It's gonna be a required component for our flat-tow setup. It's gonna take the signals from the motorhome lights and transfer them over to the vehicle, because in a lot of cases, the lights on our motorhome are not gonna be visible because we have the vehicle blocking them.
